This is an easy recipe that you can do the night before so that it will be ready the morning of and it only uses the sort of things you would normally have on hand for breakfast anyway.

You Will Need (10 things)

  • 1 lbs Artisan Bread
  • 8 Lightly Eggs
  • 3 cup Milk
  • 4 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • Topping:

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Ground Cinnamon Optional

Steps (7 steps, 600 minutes)

  1. 1

The ingredients. I also used some of my Vanilla Sugar for this recipe.

  2. 2

Take whatever bread you've got lying around and cut it into one inch thick slices.

  3. 3

    Allow it to become "stale".

  4. 4

Chop the stale bread into inch sized pieces or so, mine are a little bigger because that was the aesthetic I was going for. Place bread cubes in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.

  5. 5

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt.

  6. 6

    Pour over bread.

  7. 7

Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top.

Cover and bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes.
