Framed Feathers

Feathers are too pretty to just sit on the ground.

I guess my home decor has almost always been a little eclectic. I love kind of spooky stuff mixed with religious artifacts. This feather is displayed next to a picture of the Pieta and a strand of death's-head prayer beads.....

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Pretty Feather(s)
  • Frame With Glass
  • Cheesecloth Muslin, Or Raw Silk (for the background)
  • Paint And/Or Stain

Steps (3 steps, 10 minutes)

  1. 1

Choose a feather that you love. Find a frame and fabric that you'd like with the feather. Frame must have glass for the front and cardboard backing. Paint and/or stain your frame to your own tastes. I painted mine with a whitewash and then a peachy stain on top.

  2. 2

Measure raw silk to cover the inside of the back cardboard of the picture frame. This will be the background for your feather. Cut the fabric out slightly larger than the cardboard. Modify the fabric as wanted. I used a bit of dusty rose colored lip stain to add color.

  3. 3

Glue fabric to cardboard and then glue feather to fabric. Assemble picture frame.
