These little guys may not be pretty but they are great gifts for anyone who has a fireplace or camps, etc. They take all the pain out of getting your fire started and with an extra benefit of a wash of fragrance. You've going to love them! *I see a LOT of things online. If it is a direct tutorial and I can find it again, I will post it. I've been doing these for a few years now... no idea where the idea originated. All I know for sure is that when I excitedly told my friend Evalynn about this AWESOME new idea, I found out she'd been making them for years. (Le Sigh)

The only "must have" materials are egg cartons, candle wax, tin can and burnable material to stuff the cartons with. I choose to use dryer lint. (Yep, I keep a big old baggy of it right on top of my dryer.) I also picked up some incense cones at the Dollar store (40 for $1) And, I save all my candle stubs as well as look for damaged candles at thrift stores.
By using a tin can to melt your wax you eliminate all the tedious clean up. Low heat recommended, just enough to slowly melt it down.
Stuff those egg cartons! I swaddled my incense cones in dryer lint. As an "extra", I always dry flowers and used the roses my lovely man gave me to add a potpourri effect to the top. You can also pick up dated potpourri at the Dollar Store. NOTE: Use the tops of the egg cartons, under the dividers to catch any wax that leaks through.
After pouring on the wax and letting it cool overnight, tear or cut apart the little egg compartments. Store in a handy basket or bowl by your fireplace or give to a friend. When it's time to heat things up, put one carton right above your kindling. The wax melts over the logs, kindling and is an instant start. So, much easier! Now grab a good book, a glass of wine or the hand of someone you love and enjoy. (Or all three!) =D
