formal dress designed by meeeee!
Our school is having a formal dance next week, and I wanted to make my own dress. So I designed, made the pattern, and sewed my dress.

It took a lot less time than I thought, actually. The black stripes were the most time-consuming.

ALSO! My very first project above the "Nice 'n' Simple" difficulty! (I think)

ALSO TAKE 2! I only labeled it "Pretty Tough" because it was tedious and difficult to get the stripes right - you can see I messed up a bit - and also because I drafted the pattern from scratch.

Also, side note, in the picture of the back, there are little weird fiddly bits under the arms, but those aren't there when a real person wears it.

Click on the picture - otherwise you won't see it properly.

End super long description!

Enjoy!

Thanks! and yeah, there is! I've never actually used a pattern but it feels so great when something you've designed and made the pattern for comes out well Happy

there's a certain challenge that's more rewarding to complete when doing things from your head and your own design instead of using a pattern. and you also get the learning experience of how to improve next time...
p.s. looks great!

Thank you! That's a great idea to make a fascinator! I totally didn't even think of that! I don't think I could wear it to the dance, though - there's just gonna be a bunch of sweaty teenagers jumping around to terrible music, so I'd fear for the life of it.

But thanks again for the compliments! Happy

Well done. Stripes are a nightmare to get in place and working from a draft pattern isn't easy. You should turn a few heads with your dress. I'd top it of with a black & white feather fascinator Happy
