I love all the flowery embellished tops around at the momeent, but hate paying for them. I had a t shirt I liked the colour of but was too big, and a singlet that was very boring. And best of all, its not that dusky pink colour that all the pretty stuff if in the shops, that totally washed me out.

Cut strips out of t-shirt. Mine were about 1 - 2.5cm wide, and 15-25cm long.
Put singlet on and draw a line where you want the flowers to roughly be (with taylors chalk). I wanted mine to come down over one shoulder then flow down across the top. (I only thought to take the photo after I'd started sewing...)
Sew! I used the technique described here: http://sewtakeahike.typepad.com/sewtakeahike/2009/03/knit-rose-tutorial.html Basically fold-sew-fold-sew-fold-sew... A mix of sizes looks good. Sew as many on as you think you need. I was originally going to fill the whole top half, but I tried it on and decided I quite liked it like this.
The flowers on the straps had to be sewn onto other material (scraps of poplin in this case) so that they held their shape. Its hard to sew a round rose onto a spaghetti strap!
Sew flowers onto strap. I used silver glitter thread, and used embellishments to hide the stitches. Blue and pearl buttons and diamond-look beads.
I decided to add embellishments to the bigger flowers as well, to make it look a little fancier.
