Floppy Disk Whimsy A Recycled Project

They've become obsolete...but their parts can be fun to work with.

Too many floppy disks were taking up space here at home AND at work. I hadn't seen too many fun, creative re-uses for these disks, so decided to take one apart to see what I'd end up with. The round metal part (which you can see in the middle of a floppy disk) and the rectangular "folded" metal part (which is folded over the top of the disk) looked like faces to me. I pulled out my stash of googly eyes and decided to glue some on to finish the "face".(I used super glue, but hot glue could also be used) Using a small drill bit, I drilled a hole for the jump ring. You could also use a nail and hammer a hole. Twist the jump ring to open, put it through the hole, and twist it closed again. Thread a necklace chain (I used 18") through the jump ring and you've created your Floppy disk whimsy pendant.
