I was in Michael’s today and found some super cute fleur de lis clothespins in what I can only describe as their “chalkboard paint” section, and while I initially planned on passing them up it occurred to me how perfect they would be for a NOLA themed project, especially since I had everything I needed on hand to make them Saints colors. So I thought ‘what the heck they’re a dollar and I’m sure I can use them for something’. Lo and behold I have turned them into (basically) fridge magnets.

My clothespins were already black, and possibly painted with chalkboard paint though I didn’t test them out, so I had to paint some of them gold to get the desired effect. I had to do roughly a million coats of gold paint so you might want to prime these first if you’re making them at home.
Once you’ve reached the desired saturation of paint, and it has dried, you can go ahead and cut off pieced of magnetic tape that will fit the back of your clothespins. I actually cut off three pieces and then cut all of those in half lengthwise so that they would fit perfectly, and because I had six pins. If your magnetic tape isn’t sticky enough, as mine wasn’t, then you might need to glue them down in place.
Then you’re done and you can just stick them onto any magnetic surface in your house. Or not. I’m not your mother. I can’t tell you what to do.
