Pleated Flapper Dress!
I am really pleased with this dress! I think a lot of people have misconceptions about twenties styles. They think (as I kind of did before a TON of research) that EVERY SINGLE TWENTIES DRESS is a tube dress with fringe. However, just like today, there were tons of different styles. I mean, you don't see every single person today wearing a jeans and a tee-shirt! I put these ideas into the dress:

1. Since it was the "Age of the Machine" I used shiny fabric and angular shapes.

2. The shiny fabric also reflects the PARTY IT UP attitude that flappers had.

3.The shape of the dress, the color blocking of the lace, and the angular pleating is art deco, which was a major art style in the day.

4.The points on the bottom kind of look like a city skyline, which is where a lot of the flapper movement took place.

5.The length is JUST ABOVE THE KNEE! *shock! HORROR!* which was the scandalous style.

6. The waistline is right on the hip, which is where most of the belt/sashes fell, and the neckline is, like many flapper dresses, a v-neck.

7.The dress is cut on the bias, which was a big trend of the time.

I hope you like it!

Love,
Gwen
