I had all this lycra material and so decided to have a go at making my own bikini! I used a bandeau style pattern for the top (but used lycra swimwear instead of jersey material) which i found on burdastyle.com (they have loads of great free patterns and all you have to do is sign up! It worked really well, the instructions are a little hard to decipher but it was pretty simple after that and didnt take too long to make at all. For the bottoms i used a pattern i found on freeneedle.com I had to make a practice piece first to get the method right but they worked really well once you understand the method! I didn't use elastic in the legs or waistband of the bottoms as i didnt think they needed it and i think they are very comfortable as is. One tip remember to set your machine to stretch stitch before sewing!! (not that i forgot and had to unpick and start again! the links for the top and bottoms are: Top http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/bandeau-052012 Bottoms http://www.freeneedle.com/project/1666
