Be very careful with this project. Invisible thread is hard to tie.

  • How to make a jar. Fire Flies - Step 1
    Step 1

    Take any color of yellow and/or gold thread and wrap it around your pinky finger, pencil, or other small object.

    Step 2

    Take your clear thread or fishing line and tie around the center of your soon to be mini pompom, to make a shape like a box tie.

    Step 3

    Place the blade of your scissor through the loop of one end of the bow tie. Do the same to the other once done with the first one.

    Step 4

    After frilling the edges outward to make a pompom take the invisible thread and attach it to the top of the jar's lid.

    Step 5

    After placing the lid back on you get an effect of what it would look like with several in there.

    Sucky project, yes. But its entertaining to do while bored.

Very cute! I've never gotten to catch fireflies but my family has a nice little "ranch" that we go to. I'll make this and put one of those halloween flickering pumpkin lights in the lid so they'll flicker and use it as a nightlight at the ranch!

You could cover them in glow in the dark paint, or some other wet, glow in the dark substance. Cute idea.

Cute idea!

It brings back summer memories of my childhood where we would go out at night and catch fire flies in a mason jar and whoever got the most got a treat (a soda or a piece of candy).
