About

Relive your childhood by fingerpainting a masterpiece! All you need is some watercolor or mixed media paper, watercolor crayons and water to begin your fingerpainting.

You can either make your painting an abstract or plan out where each color should go so they form a picture. For this project I chose a basic landscape of a sun setting over water and used the crayons to color in the different areas.

Keeping the crayon loose I scribbled some basic lines and then using just my fingertips dipped in water to gently mix the colors together.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Watercolor Crayons
  • Watercolor Paper
  • Water
  • Painter's Tape

Steps (4 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Using Painter's tape secure your watercolor paper to a hard surface.
(Optional: however this will keep your page from rippling or moving around)

  2. 2

Using watercolor crayons (or pencils) loosely scribble your design.

  3. 3

Dip your fingers into some clean water and gently rub the colored area so it mixes with the water.

  4. 4

Continue gently mixing the color with the water to create a watercolor effect until you achieve your desired result.
