They make the house smell really Christmassy.

Your family will think you have spent hours making them and they taste really amazing.

  • How to bake a mince pie. Festive Mince Pie's - Step 1
    Step 1

    Heat the oven Gas 5.

    Roll out the shortcrust pastry.

    Cut out circles that will fit into your tart/pie tin.

    Place pastry into tin.

    Fill lined tin with mince meat filling.

    Don't overfill them !!!

    Roll out the remaining pastry trimmings and any left over pastry.

    Cut smaller circles out for the lids.

    Crimp in place and cover the top with any decoration or left over pastry.

    Egg wash the top and add a sprinkling of sugar.

    Place in the oven for 20 - 30 mins, or until golden brown.

    Remove and allow to cool (or eat hot, be careful they will burn).

    Simple, easy and quick to make Festive Mince Pie's.

In your version of mince pies, are you using jarred mincemeat or are you using the traditional mincemeat (using real meat and suet?)

Hi Jayne,

I used a jar of mincemeat. I always buy a better quality one because I love the taste. If you buy it now, after Christmas, you can get a bargain on the price.
