  • How to make a fruit plushie. Felt Kiwi (Half) Slice - Step 1
    Step 1

First, cut out three semicircles of green felt of equal size.
This set shown here may be adapted to your desired size, with the shown ratio used to create a single kiwi half slice.

Next, cut out two smaller semicircles of white felt according to the suggested ratio here.

    Step 2

Glue the two smaller semicircles of white onto the centre of the two green semi-circles.

These will form the outer sides of your final kiwi (half) slice.

    Step 3

Use the straight stitch to sew about 11 straight lines outwards and along the edge of the inner white semicircles on both of the green semicircles with white felt.

*Note: I chose to use double threading for my straight stitches to make it look neater.

Next, use the French knot stitch to create about 10 'kiwi seeds' in dark brown thread within the interspaces of the earlier 11 straight white stitches.

Do not worry if the French knots do not look perfect - It gets better with practice. Also, a dash of imperfection adds to its realism, too. :)

    Step 5

Repeat the same step - use the French knot stitch to create 10 'kiwi seeds' in dark brown thread within the interspaces on the other green semicircle with white felt.

These will form the outer sides of your final kiwi (half) slice.

    Step 6

Finally, glue all three green felt semicircles together, making sure that the sides with the white felt and stitches as well as the dark brown French knot 'kiwi seeds' are facing outward on both sides.

The unstitched green semicircle will be glued in the middle of all the three semicircles to give the final kiwi slice some thickness. There you have it... Your first felt kiwi (half) slice! Enjoy! :)

*Note: You may also experiment with the size of the kiwi slice by trying out a quarter (instead of half) slice. Good luck! :)
