Today I thought I'd share a little recycling project with you. Updating or finding new ways to use my old clothing has become one of my favorite things to do. It costs me almost nothing and I get a totally unique piece. With this DIY I used my husband's old moth eaten sweater and turned it into something a little trendier. I kept the sleeves and used the bodice of the old sweater as a template to cut the faux leather. As faux leather doesn't fray, there is no need to sew the neckline or bottom, making it a really easy project for a beginner.

Start by removing the sleeves from the old sweater.
Using the old bodice as a template, cut a faux leather front and back. You can see from the previous image, that I wanted the new bodice to be a little more form fitting. If you'd prefer to do that too, use the armholes of the original sweater as a guide. Remember to add a 1/2 inch seam allowance.
With right sides facing, sew the sides and shoulders of the bodice.
Lastly, insert the sleeves and sew to bodice.
