Decorate an existing bottle sleeve with paper and transform this ordinary cardboard object into cool gift wrap for a bottle of beer or wine, for example. In this DIY project, you’ll also be using various types of cardstock. Cutting, slicing and folding the paper will create a little jacket for the bottle sleeve. Instructions

  1. Small 2020 04 08 120025 stap 1

Measure the diameter of the lid and use the circle cutter to cut out the right size to fit on top of the lid.

  2. Small 2020 04 08 120029 stap 2

Measure the rim of the lid and cut out two strips of white cardstock, the size of the depth of the rim x 30.5cm.

  3. Small 2020 04 08 120032 stap 3

Mark 7.8cm on both sides of the second strip. Fold the outer corners towards the bottom of the strip (see image). Use a bone folder to create sharp folds.

  4. Small 2020 04 08 120038 stap 4

Paint the rim of the lid in the same colour you are making the collar of the shirt and leave to dry thoroughly. Next, stick one of the strips of cardstock onto the rim of the lid. It won’t quite meet up, but this will be resolved when you stick the collar on. Now stick the cut-out circle onto the top of the lid, too.

  5. Small 2020 04 08 120043 stap 5

For the shirt, cut a strip of scrapbook paper measuring 17cm wide and 26.5cm high. Stick it onto the round sleeve, placing it up against the bottom edge.

  6. Small 2020 04 08 120048 stap 6

For the jacket, cut out a 26.5cm x 26.5cm piece of cardstock. For the lapels, mark 5cm in from the left towards the centre, and 12cm down from the top left corner. Do this for both sides.

  7. Small 2020 04 08 120054 stap 7

Fold the lapels over and draw stitches on them.

  8. Small 2020 04 08 120058 stap 8

Make two jacket pockets measuring 7 x 8cm and one measuring 6 x 7cm and punch out the corners on the bottom edge, 14cm along. Draw stitches all around, plus an extra line of stitches for a hem.

  9. Small 2020 04 08 120103 stap 9

Stick the jacket pockets onto the outside of the jacket: the 2 large pockets 3cm from the outer edge, and 2cm from the bottom. Stick the small pocket a little above one of the large pockets and leave to dry thoroughly.

  10. Small 2020 04 08 120106 stap 10

Stick the jacket onto the sleeve and make sure the shirt is positioned in the centre of the opening.

  11. Small 2020 04 08 120110 stap 11

Use Glue Dots to stick 3 or 4 buttons onto one side of the jacket, and 2 smaller buttons on the collar.

  12. Small 2020 04 08 120114 stap 12

Punch out a 5.2cm hexagon and draw out a tie (see image). Draw a perpendicular line down from the outer corners of the hexagon you cut out. The line should be about 20cm long. The space at the bottom between these lines should also measure 5.2cm. Measure and mark 15cm from the base of the hexagon. From this line, mark 3cm up on both sides, and mark the point of the tie below. From the base of the hexagon, now draw a line to this 3cm point. Now cut out the tie.

  13. Small 2020 04 08 120118 stap 13

Stick the tie onto the bottle sleeve and decorate with collectables from the same Kaiserkraft series if desired.
