Just a fun easy tutorial on how to turn Capital Drab into amazing fab. From vintage to indie, preppy to dark, or maybe a fun retro style? This is for you. It's also nice to instead of do away with old notebooks, to also design them.

Description

Just a fun easy tutorial on how to turn Capital Drab into amazing fab. From vintage to indie, preppy to dark, or maybe a fun retro style? This is for you. It's also nice to instead of do away with old notebooks, to also design them.

Instructions

  1. Small img 20120409 003114

Find an old binder (Or new!) that's solid colored.

  2. Small img 20120409 003250

Next find Construction paper, Scissors, glue, Magazine Pages (Depending on which style your going through)

  3. Small img 20120409 004432

Make A small background. Me, I crumbled up plain beige construction paper, drew lines and added buttons.

  4. Small img 20120409 004734

Position the background accent exactly where you would want it to be. Maybe you only want a certain part to show? (This will be mostly covered.)

  5. Small img 20120409 011559

Cut out magazine clippings. Start glueing them onto the binder. Make them collage-ish. Add buttons or fabrics, depending on what you have or want.

  6. Small img 20120410 061110

On the inside I decided to rip out the plastic paper keepers, so I added my own. (backs or magz and cardstock type paper works well)

And voila! a vintage, indie binder(: I added a name plate because I think they make the binders more personal, and have that older paperbag feel.
