Envelope Wallet

A wallet that can find it's way back to you.

About

I love the envelope wallets that everyone has at the moment but I wanted one that would be personalised with my address, so if I lose it, it might find it's way back to me.

I'm including my template for you to use. Add your own address to the front and pictures of things you love to the inside frames.

  • Printer
  • Scanner
  • White Leather , canvas or similar material
  • Transfer Paper for light fabric

Steps (26 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

Print out the template on to transfer paper, remembering to flip the image so that it's mirrored.

  2. 2

Cut out the front of the wallet and iron on to transfer paper.

  3. 3

Remove the paper to reveal the print.

  4. 4

Repeat this for the inside of the wallet and the two card flaps.

  5. 5

Draw around the flap templates on to your fabric.

  6. 6

Cut these out and cut out the two strips of airmail print.

  7. 7

Iron the print on to the bottom and top edges of the flaps.

  8. 8

Overlap the two flaps on the back of the wallet.

  9. 9

    Cut out the airmail sticker.

  10. 10

Place where you'd like it on the front of the envelope. Use a little drop of glue to hold it in place.

  11. 11

    Cut out your stamp.

  12. 12

You'll want to get the ink print on the stamp aligned with the background.

  13. 13

Cut around the edges with pinking scissors or snip your own pattern.

  14. 14

    Glue in place.

  15. 15

Now cut out the windows from the card flaps.

  16. 16

Cut out squares of clear vinyl to fit behind the windows.

  17. 17

Sew neatly around the edges and then cut off any excess vinyl.

  18. 18

Sew the flaps on the back of the wallet in to place, the bottom one first and the top one on top.

  19. 19

Sew around the wax seal in a circle.

  20. 20

Sew around the stamp in a square.

  21. 21

And sew around the airmail sticker.

  22. 22

Now line up the front of the wallet face down, with the inside on top and the two card windows at either side.

  23. 23

Sew around the outside of the wallet.

  24. 24

    Cut off any excess threads.

  25. 25

Place your cards in the wallet.

  26. 26

    You're all good to go!
