  2. Cable Panel B (worked over 13 sts) Row 1: K6, P1, K6. Row 2: P5, K1, P1, K1, P5. Row 3: K4, P1, K3, P1, K4. Row 4: P3, (K1, P2) twice, K1, P3. Row 5: (K2, P1) twice, K1, (P1, K2) twice. Row 6: P1, K1, P2, K1, P3, K1, P2, K1, P1. Row 7: K3, (P1, K2) twice, P1, K3. Row 8: (P2, K1) twice, P1, (K1, P2) twice. Row 9: As row 3. Row 10: As row 4. Row 11: K5, P1, K1, P1, K5. Rep the last 2 rows until work measures 2cm, ending with a ws row and inc 1 st at each end of last row. 119 [131, 143] sts. Change to 4mm needles and work as foll; Row 1: P5 [8, 11], *work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, P1 [2, 3], work row 1 of patt panel B over next 13 sts, P1 [2, 3], rep from * to last 21 [24, 27] sts, work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, P5 [8, 11]. Row 2: K5 [8, 11], *work row 2 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, K1 [2, 3], work row 2 of patt panel B over next 13 sts, K1 [2, 3], rep from * to last 21 [24, 27] sts, work row 2 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, K5 [8, 11]. sts, K5 [8, 11]. sts. Rep the last 2 rows until work measures 2cm, ending with a ws row and inc 1 st at each end of last row. 119 [131, 143] sts. Change to 4mm needles and work as foll; Row 1: P5 [8, 11], *work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, P1 [2, 3], work row 1 of patt panel B over next 13 sts, P1 [2, 3], rep from * to last 21 [24, 27] sts, work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, P5 [8, 11].   5. Shape Neck Next row: Patt 47 [51, 55] sts and turn. Work on these sts only for first side of neck. Leave rem sts on a stitch holder. *** Cast off 3 sts at beg of next and foll 2 alt rows, and 2 sts at beg of foll alt row. 36 [40, 44] sts. Now dec 1 st at neck edge of foll 2 alt rows. 34 [38, 42] sts. Work 2 rows straight.

  6. Shape Shoulder Cast off rem 34 [38, 42] sts. Return to sts left on stitch holder and slip centre 25 [29, 33] sts onto another stitch holder for centre front neck. Rejoin yarn to rem sts with ws facing and patt 2 rows. Complete to match the first side from ***.

  7. SLEEVES (both alike) Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 47 [51, 55] sts. Row 1: K1, *P1, K1, rep from * to end. Row 2: P1, *K1, P1, rep from * to end. Rep the last 2 rows until work measures 2cm, ending with a wsrowandinc1stateach end of last row. 49 [53, 57] sts. Change to 4mm needles and work as foll; Row 1: P1 [2,3], work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, P1 [2, 3], work row 1 of patt panel B over next 13 sts, P1 [2, 3], work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, P1 [2, 3]. Row 2: K1 [2,3], work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, K1 [2, 3], work row 1 of patt panel B over next 13 sts, K1 [2, 3], work row 1 of patt panel A over next 16 sts, K1 [2, 3]. These last 2 rows set the position of patt panels. Cont in patt working the correct patt row on each row and AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st at each end 5th and every foll 4th row until there are 89 [93, 97] sts, taking extra sts into patt by taking the first 16 sts into patt panel B and the rem 4 sts into reverse stocking stitch. Cont straight until sleeve measures 43cms, ending with a ws row. Cast off.

  8. NECKBAND Join right shoulder seam. Using 3.25mm needles and rs facing pick up and K17 [16, 15] sts along left front of neck slope, K across 25 [29, 33] sts left on a stitch holder at Centre front of neck, pick up and K17 [16, 15] sts along right front of neck slope then K across 51 [55, 59] sts left on back of neck stitch holder, dec 1 st at centre. 109 [115, 121] sts. Row 1: P1, *K1, P1, rep from * to end. Row 2: K1, *P1, K1, rep from * to end. Rep the last 2 rows until work measures 6 cm ending with row 1. Cast off loosely. TO MAKE UP Join left shoulder seam and neckband. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Fold neckband in half to ws and loosely slip stitch into place.
