Two panels crocheted together on long sides. I left a hole for a boat neckline and put 3 stitches on the short sides creating an armhole. Inspired by the net scarf Lilibeth and others have done. I purchased the yarn at a thrift store - so my cost was $1.50. This is my first attempt. Please disregard the .otd attachment - I couldn't figure out how to delete it.

This can be made in 2 panels or 1 continuous piece. 2 panel instructions first: Chain 136 across- if you need to mark this chain just use a safety pin. Chain 8 more. Double-triple crochet in the 136th chain. Chain 3 – double-triple in the 4th, continue until the end of the chain - 1st row
Repeat this for as many row as you'd like to create the length. (Mine is 11 rows and hits me just below the waist.) Once you have the length you desire, create the second panel.
Lay panels long side s together. Count 12 squares in from the outside in – pin together with a safety pin. Now put this over you head and check the neckline. If 12 squares it falls off your shoulders, come in a few more. Just come in the same amount of squares are on each side.
Crotchet or use yarn to sew from these pieces together, this creates the neck hole and shoulders.
*****Trim around the inside for the neckline and all around the edges using single crochet stitch. You can quit here is you like – or add a few chain stitches or a ribbon on the short sides to make a arm hole.
If you want to make this in once piece – begin the same. Once you get the amount of rows for your length, start the next row of squares but one you get to the 12th begin to chain 4 stitches for each square you are not connecting to the panel – until you get to the 12th from the end of the opposite side and begin your double triple crochet in that square to the end. Continue crotchet rows using the chain stitch and you will have created your neck hole. Once both sides of the neck have the same amount of rows – go to the **** and trim.
