I am constantly coming home to dirty dishes and the excuse of "Well I didn't know if they were clean." So I decided to make something to help keep everyone in the loop.

Step 1Shape your clay, however much you want, into a relatively uniform disk shape and then bake as per the specific instructions of whatever clay you used. Mine required being baked for 30 minutes at 230 F.

Step 2Once your clay has cooled you can go ahead and paint in whatever fashion you like. I chose to make one half of the disk green and the other half red. You could just as easily spell out ‘Clean’ and ‘Dirty’, but I didn’t want to. I had to do multiple coats, but this was my first one.

Step 3Allow your paint to dry, then go ahead and attach the magnet onto the back.

Step 4Then you’re done and you can put your magnet on your dishwasher and watch as the excuses stop.
