Galaxy print is so coooooool- I wasn't having any luck shopping around for anything affordable or in my size. ( And I don't wear leggings.) I know there are a lot of painted glaxay patterned bottoms online, but I wanted to try and get the effect with just dye and bleach. Ta-da! Warning, this project has a few time consuming steps and takes a few trips in the washing machine.

I know there are a lot of painted glaxay patterned bottoms online, but I wanted to try and get the effect with just dye and bleach. Ta-da! Grab a pair of jeans and some bleach- twist tie or rubber band a few sections on the front and back of your jeans to make some galaxies. Using a paint brush, brush bleach over the sections. (Don't let pure bleach sit too long or it will burn a hole! Work quickly.) Cut the ties and splatter bleach all over with a paint brush. You can also paint on some swirl, star burst and star shapes. Quickly wash jeans.
Once the bleach has been washed from the pants follow the directions on the dye you're going to use. To get a spacey, ombre, effect, soak the leg bottoms in the dye bath a few hours before you dunk the whole pair in. I used a purple fabric dye, the package warned that it might not take to bleached areas, but it did just fine for me. I let the jeans soak in the dye bath for 4 hours, then let them sit out over night before I washed them again. This time I also passed them through the dryer.
To finish them off I splattered more bleach all over them. Also painting on more swirls and star burst shapes. Thats it!
Enjoy! (Water down your bleach if you're worried about burning a hole through your jeans!)
