Halloween costume prop!
For Halloween '10 I wanted to be a pirate. Sadly all pre-made outfits are outrageously expensive but low quality. I didn't want that. So I made my own. I searched high and low for a cheap sword. Most around $10 would bend in half if moved the slightest and anything stable was at least $20+.

So I went to the local store and bought duct tape (black & silver). I cut out the cardboard into two pieces. One's the sword (down to the end of the handle- just wrapped in different duct tape). The other part is the handle part covering your hand (it's a weird figure 8- small on one end, large on the other with two slits through the middle of each side). I just cut up an old metal hanger and duct taped that inside of it for stability. Wrap everything in duct tape, slide on the handle's covering, and you got yourself a pirate sword!
