Cheap and stylish!

About

Time to use up all those bottle top rings you've obviously been saving (or is that just me?) and make yourself a pair of almost free super lightweight dreamcatcher earrings! Totally customizable, and unique!

The time this project takes will depend on how quickly you can thread the dreamcatcher itself- this can take practice.

You Will Need (5 things)

  • 2 Pop Tabs
  • Thread (Embroidery, wool, cotton, whatever you have around)
  • 1 Tiny Glass Beads
  • 2 Earring Hooks
  • Scissors

Steps (6 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

Start by gathering your materials, you can see on this image the materials I used for this particular pair (purple thread wasn't used in the end)

The bottle top rings are the bit that you snap free from the cap when opening a plastic bottle, these came from lunchbox sized bottles of Copella apple and elderflower juice and can usually be wiggled off the bottle easily.

  2. 2

You need to start by making a long piece of thread, for speed I would recommend using 4 or 5 threads at once. Loop this through your earring hook and tie off on your bottle top ring. Then wrap the whole of the bottle cap ring in the thread so you can't see any of the plastic.

  3. 3

Once you've gone around the whole ring tie the threads off around where the earring hook joins the ring.

  4. 4

Follow an image like the one here to make the dreamcatcher inside the ring, you can change colour threads at any point to create a multicoloured dreamcatcher. If you have fine thread I recommend using multiple strands while doing this step.

  5. 5

Add a bead into each earring about half way through - this represents the spider in the web.

Alternatively you could add beads at regular intervals creating a super sparkly pair!

Remember to leave a small hole in the middle of the dreamcatcher, and tie off your end to the nearest thread.

Congratulations! You've just finished your earrings! Now go out and rock them!
