Description

Instructions

  1. Small wristlet 1

Cut one rectangle from the brocade 9 by 12" and a strip 12 by 1 1/2". Cut a 8 by 12" rectangle from the satin. Cut the ribbon into two 20" pieces. Cut elastic 2" longer than your wrist.

  2. Small wristlet 2

On the large brocade piece, measure 1 1/4” from the long edge and 2 7/8” from the short edge on each side. Iron the square of interfacing behind the mark and stitch a 1/2” vertical button hole on each side. Cut the buttonholes open.

  3. Small wristlet 4

Fold the long strip with right sides together. Stitch 1/4" from the long edge. Turn right side out. Feed the elastic into the tube by pinning a safety pin to one end. Stitch the other end to the opening of the tube. When the elastic reaches the other end, stitch that one as well.

  4. Small wristlet 6

Fold the large brocade piece with right sides together. Sandwich the ends of the wrist strap in between, with the top edge of the strap even with the top of the buttonhole. Stitch 1/4" from the edge, back stitching a couple of times over the ends of the wrist strap. Stitch a basting stitch near the bottom edge of the bag and pull to gather. Flatten the side seam in the center and stitch over the gathers with a sewing machine.

  5. Small wristlet 7

Repeat the side seam and gathering on the satin, but leave 1 2" opening in the side seam for turning.

  6. Small wristlet 8

Turn the lining right side out, and place inside the brocade so the fabrics are right sides together. Stitch the upper edges together. Turn through the opening in the satin. Stitch the opening closed.

  7. Small wristlet 9

Push the lining into the bag, folding the brocade to the inside 1/2". Stitch 1/2" from the top of the bag and another 1/2" below that. The buttonholes should be centered between the two rows of stitching.

  8. Small wristlet 12

Feed the ribbon in one hole, all the way around, and back out the same hole. Repeat with the other piece of ribbon on the other side. String a bead onto the ribbon on each side and tie a couple of knots below it. Pull both sides to close.
