Doughy balls crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and coated in sugary cinnamon, how could you go wrong! These are super easy to make and are a real hit with just about everyone. You can even get a syringe from a chest and fill each ball with custard or jam.

    Mix butter with milk, vegetable oil, sugar, vanilla and salt.

    Mix together until mixture becomes smooth

    Heat the oil in a deep-fat fryer or a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Form little balls with two teaspoons from the dough and fry in the hot oil until golden-brown.

    ***Don't make the balls to big or you will find that the outside will be cooked but the centre will be uncooked dough

    Shake off excess oil and place into a mixture of cinnamon and caster sugar, roll each ball evenly then place on paper towel to drain and remaining excess oil

    Cool and serve

WOW-Brought memories back. Bugged mom til she recently found recipe & made after 20 yrs (she was lil stingy Happy. )..Mom's (her mom's) recipe is like these doughnut balls but I remember nutmeg & Im thinking buttermilk is also used in her recipe. YUM I want some. I had to look up caster sugar! thanks for the recipe.

Yeah I forgot to add the nutmeg to the recipe as I did as its purely from my head, as we were eating them I though yes definitely nutmeg next time, and buttermilk would definitely work, I hate buying buttermilk as I only ever use a little bit of it and the rest goes to waste
