A friend asked me to make her a Don't Panic book and since she couldn't really use an address book, I made her a cover for her journal. It's removeable so she can transfer it as she fills up her books.

Lay the book out flat and trace cut around it on black felt. Cut a little far out so that when you sew it together there will still be room to slide the cover into the pockets.
Now trace around the black felt onto your space fabric. Again, trace it a bit bigger, this time so you can hem it. CHANGE SUGGESTION - as you can maybe tell from my finished design, the purple stuck out from the black felt which I didn't really like so maybe you should cut it the same size as the black felt and hem it from there so it's a bit smaller than the felt and won't stick out. Then you could sew the fabric to the black felt first and then the pockets on after out closer to the edge. Hope that makes sense.
Trace the felt with a matching marker so you know where to fold the hem line.
Iron down your edge for the hem.
Trace Don't Panic in a font you like - this one is from the movie. Trace the yellow outline separately from the red, then cut them out.
Trace the outlines in yellow in felt. I did it backwards so the pen would be on the underside. Cut it out.

sew the red letters and the yellow outline to the black felt.
I did mine like this.
Pin the space fabric to the felt.
Pin two pieces of black felt on for pocket flaps.
sew it all together around the edge.
You're Done! How Fun! Put in your book and write away all your universe's secrets!
