  • Step 1

Pin the two large rectangles of material on top of each other, making sure they're flat and crease free.

Fold in half widthways, so the material that will be the lining is on the outside of the bag, pin to secure. The fold becomes the bottom of the bag.

Draw two vertical lines up from the fold to determine the width of the bag, secure with pins and cut off any excess material, leaving about 1cm of material next to the line for sewing.

Sew along the line from the bottom of the bag, stopping about 4/5 of the way up.

Remove all pins and turn the bag inside out.

Neatly fold the loose ends outwards (You can use an iron to make the creases permanent) sew up any loose ends.

You should now have the basic bag shape.

Take your small scrap of material (patterned looks best) and draw the design you would like on it.

Carefully cut out the design, and stop any fraying round the edges with a little clear nail varnish. (not too much or it could effect the colour of your material!)

With similar coloured thread, sew your design on the front of the bag.

For the handle, measure out a rectangle of material about 5cm x 20cm, fold in half lengthways and secure edges with pins.

Draw a line about 2cm parallel to the fold and sew along the line.

Cut off any excess material and turn inside out. (the pencil comes in handy here!)

Fold the handle to make a loop and tightly sew to inside one of the top corners of the bag.

And there you have it! A handy little bag for all your dogs stuff :D
