Description

If you don't count the interminable drying time, this adorable ribbon bow necklace takes 5 minutes to make, and doesn't require much supplies or skills.

Instructions

  1. Small 2014 03 24 150630 1

Cut a short piece of ribbon. Mine was about 7". Tie a classic bow and snip the ends of the ribbon.

  2. Small 2014 03 24 150632 2

Use a paintbrush to apply fabric stiffener all over the ribbon. Let dry. Drying time is quite long- mine took about 10 hours.

  3. Small 2014 03 24 150635 3

Once it's dry, spray paint it in gold (or any color you fancy), or dip it into liquid gold leaf. Let dry. Optional: add a layer of clear nail polish or acrylic varnish to protect the paint.

  4. Small 2014 03 24 150639 4

With a needle, make two holes in the bow (one on the left side and the other on the right side).

  5. Small 2014 03 24 150644 5

    Add two jump rings.

  6. Small 2014 03 24 150648 6

Attach the bow charm to the chain.

And that's it! I love that it has the look and texture of fabric, yet is sturdy and holds well. Hope you'll enjoy it!
