Few days ago, I read an article talking about the waste problem cause by the disposal of non-recyclable takeaway coffee cups in New Zealand and that urged us at Maru Store to try come up with craft ideas to recycle them ...until all cafes are using eco-friendly cups (even better if we all start using our own tumblers). The question is how can we turn these coffee cups into something appreciable with the use of washi tapes? We were not happy with the ordinary DIY ideas, like flower pots and storage cases. After a few days of testing and crafting, we came up with a simple, yet cute and romantic craft tutorial to share with you. What you will need - Paper coffee cup - Wine glass - Tea light candle - Washi tape
First, get yourself a washed paper cup. Make sure the rim of the cup is wider than the wine glass. Then use a craft knife to cut away the base of the cup
Wrap the paper cup with washi tape of your choice. Tip: The tapering of the cup makes it hard to keep the washi tape flat. Tape around the cup with 2 separate pieces will help.
Light a candle in the wine glass. Pop on the 'lamp cover'. Done! With just simple 4 steps, you have made yourself a cute little home decor, perfect for any romantic moments.
