You Will Need (7 things)

  • 1 Denim Shirt
  • Jeans Fabric
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Thick Thread
  • Sewing Needle
  • Sewing Pins

Steps (13 steps, 180 minutes)

  1. 1

    What you will need...

  2. 2

Prepare small denim pieces. I used an old jeans of mine.

  3. 3

With the pencil draw (not necessary perfect) ovals on the elbows.

  4. 4

Put the denim piece inside the sleeve under the marked spot and pin it to the shirt.

  5. 5

Sew the denim pieces onto the sleeve along the pencil line with simple running stitches.

  6. 6

Turn the sleeve inside out and secure the corners of the denim piece with pins as shown in the picture.

  7. 7

Attach the edges of the piece to the sleeve with hemming stitches.

  8. 8

Turn the sleeve inside out and cut out the oval spot.

  9. 9

Now cut uneven holes across your shirt - front, back, shoulders. I had several stains in the front of my shirt, so I just cut them out. Additionally I've cut several rips on the shoulders, back, pockets and collar.

  10. 10

As you did by the elbows pin the denim pieces under the cut outs or rips and secure them with pins. Then sew along the rip-edges with running stitches or any stitches you think look the best. For my shirt I used running, double running and hemming stitches.

  11. 11

Cut off excess fabric around the stitching.
