I've loads of jewelry in boxes and boxes, which ends up in me always loosing stuff and waisting time trying to find a piece or untangle some chain. Old jewelry gets sadly forgotten in the bottom on the box and it was about time I changed that.
I've loads of jewelry in boxes and boxes, which ends up in me always loosing stuff and waisting time trying to find a piece or untangle some chain. Old jewelry gets sadly forgotten in the bottom on the box and it was about time I changed that.
Instead of using a picture frame as it is popular I used an old canvas (I have plenty lying around). I painted the canvas black and stenciled some words on it to make it less plain.
For hooks I used a simple screws: on the bottom part of frame - for pendants, on the top (bigger ones) - for rings. Since I was going for "used" look I took rough thread and stretched it from the screws on the side of the frame for hanging earrings.
To make the screws look better and less visible I put some acrylic glue on top to make "bubbles". And then colored them black after everything dried out. You could also hot glue buttons on top of screws.
Since jewelry organizer projects rarely include options for studs and I wanted to have everything in one place I used some old candy tin and piece of broken fridge magnet. I glued the magnet to the canvas and it perfectly holds the tin. Though theres also bigger studs, that don't fit to the box. For those I used a clear plastic (part of some electronics packaging) and punched some different holes for holding studs and hanging. I used nails for punching the small holes and a simple office puncher for bigger ones. You could also use plastic from plastic bottles.
I was pretty happy with the result as it not only displays all my jewelry, organize it, but also gives a cool vibe to the room :)
