Fascinators are surprisingly easy to make, and some of them double as corsages.
After I made my first fascinator hair clip I realized they were so easy I quickly made several more. You might be surprised at how easy they are, too. Some clips, some fake flowers, and some other items you might have on hand are easily transformed into a unique hair accessory. They make great corsages and gifts, too!

  • How to make a fascinator. Diy Hair Fascinator - Step 1
    Step 1

Gather your materials and cut out two circles of felt to make the base. You'll notice I have four flowers in this photo, but spread them over two bases (the large flower on one, three smaller on another) in order to make them sturdy.

For each fascinator you need to cut out two circles of felt and glue them together with your glue gun for maximum stability.

Snip off the very bottom of your fake flowers to make them as flat as possible and glue them to the base.

Glue your clip to your felt base. Be careful! The metal of the clip will transfer the heat from the glue.

I have very thin, fine hair and I found that these toothed clips (which come with a pin in case you want to use your fascinator as a corsage--handy!) to work like a charm in keeping the fascinator in my hair.

If you'd like to add feathers, glue them down in stages with one layered over another. Or you can buy them already glued to each other at a craft store and just attach them to your fascinator with another layer of glue.

After you've created the base, attached the clip and added flowers or feathers, you can go nuts with decorative items. Rhinestones, more feathers, even small veils--go all out if you want to! Or not! These can be as simple or as elaborate as you like.
