Make turning sewing projects easier with this simple DIY tool with many uses!
I have been needing to make these tools for myself ever since I found them in a Hancocks Fabric store. I do numerous projects as any other sewing junkies do, that require you turn small skinny fabrics right side out after sewing. This tool is meant for drawstring projects, however for me, I am going to use it as not only that...but to turn my fabrics right side out after sewing.

It is simple, cheap to make and has numerous uses. I Made 2 different lengths from one coat hanger. One is the hole bottom wire length of a hanger, and the other is using a slant side of the top wire.

Hope everyone enjoys!

ps
here is the link to the original item I found in hancocks, which is just a wire curved with a handle! thus why making it yourself is wise!

  • How to make a misc. ~*~Diy Drawstring/Sewing Tool~*~ - Step 1
    Step 1

First gather your items to begin. I ended up using a different plier to break/cut the wire hanger. I used a needle nose plier.
*not pictured are the dremel, glaze and paint that I used later to decorate clay.

Next is the hardest part! Cutting wire hangers is a wee bit difficult, but I found that using the cutting tool on the pliers and bending the pliers from side to side will indeed break the wire.
Best way! or have your strong guy do it! Mine was at work.

next gather some clay to make your handle. I made my glow in the dark Halloween one first, so these are my colors.

    Step 4

make your design! (pumpkin looks like a peach, but the paint job later helps shape it into a jackolantern!)
Insert your wire straight end first, into your clay handle, then bake at 275F degrees per 1/4" thickness. I baked mine for around an hour.

    Step 5

using your dremel sanding tool, sand the tip that you bent for your grasping end. It is very sharp after cutting so I do recommend this, and eye protection is recommended as well, because metal pieces fly off a bit. Don't want that in your eye!

here they are baked and the tips sanded and smooth as possible. You can reshape your hook later if you desire. Also at this point, paint your handles if desired BEFORE the next step.

after painting your handles, and allowing them to dry. Glaze them with a nice thick coat of triple thick or other clay glaze.

and you are DONE! the steps I hope were thorough enough, if you need any help please pm me or as on the project.

Thank you for reading my tutorial and I hope that this tool makes sewing as easy for you as it has for me!
