Description

I made this in honour of my country's Martyr Day and International Mother Language Day on 21st February. I hope to see more country map-flag versions of it :)

Instructions

  1. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171558 step%2b 282 29

Take a piece of paper according to the size of the wooden board. Draw an outline of your country's' map with a pencil.

  2. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171601 step%2b 283 29

Place the paper on the wooden board. Now start hammering the nails along the traced outline. Hammer the nails half way into the wooden board. As my country's (Bangladesh) flag is very simple (Green flag with a red circle in the center) so it was easy for me to include the flag inside the map. I'm guessing that it would be very difficult for many others.

  3. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171607 step%2b 285 29

Try to keep equal distance between the nails. You can mark the places where you want to hammer the nails.

  4. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171610 step%2b 287 29

Anyways, this might take a while but you'll feel great after it's done! When you're done rip the paper off nice and slow and make sure not to leave any paper scraps on the board

  5. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171616 step%2b 288 29

Choose a starting point. Take the string, wrap it around any nail and tie a knot.

  6. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171619 step%2b 289 29

Start wrapping the string around the nails randomly but try to keep a sound pattern.

  7. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171639 20150218 163513

When you'll reach to the end you can simply wrap the string around a nail and tie a knot.

  8. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171645 20150218 163621

Apply a drop of glue to secure the knot and trim extra string.

  9. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171649 step%2b 2810 29

I used red string to complete the circle in the center. I started like the previous one. Filling the circle was much easier and more fun!

  10. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 171655 step%2b 2811 29

Tie a knot when you're done. Apply a drop of glue on the knot and trim extra string.

  11. Small 107664 2f2015 02 24 172119 20150218 164730

You can simply attach a hanging mechanism to it (at the back of the board) as you won't need to frame it.
