Sick of buying expensive extensions that are thin and made cheaply. Make your own, for less than $30 (not including different sales tax, It only cost me $24.56, but I already had most of the supplies, and I bought 4 different hair colors two 12 inch pieces in yellow & purple, two 24 inch pieces in black, and 3 packs of clips.) You can do it with any color, and since it's human hair, you can wash it, dye it and style it. Just get creative! (Note: if you do style your hair, it would be ab good idea to style the extensions and your hair separately, to avoid pulling, which can damage your real hair.) Sorry that I don't have step-by-step pictures, I just thought about putting this up. I've been doing it with multiple colors for the past 3 years, and thought I'd share my secret. This method I am telling you about is for adding length, if you would like to know how to do the two-tone method shown in the pictures, message me and I shall tell you. You can use the same steps for creating the hair pieces though.

Make your own, for less than $30 (not including different sales tax, It only cost me $24.56, but I already had most of the supplies, and I bought 4 different hair colors two 12 inch pieces in yellow & purple, two 24 inch pieces in black, and 3 packs of clips.) (Note: if you do style your hair, it would be ab good idea to style the extensions and your hair separately, to avoid pulling, which can damage your real hair.) Sorry that I don't have step-by-step pictures, I just thought about putting this up. I've been doing it with multiple colors for the past 3 years, and thought I'd share my secret. This method I am telling you about is for adding length, if you would like to know how to do the two-tone method shown in the pictures, message me and I shall tell you. You can use the same steps for creating the hair pieces though.

Instructions

  1. Starting at the top of your ears, move your fingers to the back of your head until you can feel your hair. Use the rat tail comb to part the hair as straight as possible. Next, measure the length, take down the number on paper and label it 1st piece. Moving up about an 1-1 1/2 inches, part the hair again, measuring the area. Take down the number and label it 2nd piece. Continue this process until you get to about 1 1/2 to top of your head. if you need help, ask a friend or family member to help you. (note: you should not have more than 4 pieces in the back, and the last piece should be long, going from 1 inch to the front of your hairline on both sides.)

  2. measure and cut out the hairpieces, double them up (cut out two identical pieces, you can either sew them together now, or wait until you put the clips on)

  3. Now figure out how many clips you need for each piece. For every 3 1/2-4 inches add a clip. 3 inches or less = 1 clip 4-8 inches = 2 Clips 12 inches = 3 Clips 16 inches = 4 Clips 20 inches = 5 clips (and probably is too long) Write down how many clips you need for each piece.

  4. Thread your needle. Placing the clips in the area where they are needed. Sew through the hole on the clip (make sure the clip teeth are facing you), and make a knot. Next push the needle through the stitching on the hair. Sew over and through 4 times. Move to the next hole, making a knot again. Then repeat the stitching and tie a double knot. Cut remaining thread. Repeat this step for all of the clips

  5. (Only if you have left over hair and clips, if not, skip to step 6) make two 1 1/2 inch strips (double them, of course) and sew a clip onto each.

  6. part your hair like in step one (it is very important that you use the rat tail comb, or it will be lumpy and appear fake. We aren't trying for that look.) Clip in each piece moving up (like in step one) if you did step 5 add in the two 1 1/2 inch strips into your hair near your hair line about a half inch away and a inch above your ear. To create a fuller look. If you follow all of the directions, no one will notice you have them in.
