My mom bought me clean cut super flares two years ago because she wanted me to get out of the skinny jean and straight leg phase.. Sorry mom, still a no-go! Well I work at a retail store and we got a bunch of new crop pants in. There was my inspiration. So to get rid of the super flares, I made them into crop pants and I put a bunch of distressed holes in them

Description

My mom bought me clean cut super flares two years ago because she wanted me to get out of the skinny jean and straight leg phase.. Sorry mom, still a no-go! Well I work at a retail store and we got a bunch of new crop pants in. There was my inspiration. So to get rid of the super flares, I made them into crop pants and I put a bunch of distressed holes in them

Instructions

  1. If you're going to do the crop pant like I did, just roll your pants up a little below your knees and pin them in place. You can go ahead and stitch the sides of the pant "roll" together too

  2. Small 181588 170447956336821 100001148529061 330500 3554583 n 1298905552

Put your pants back on and look at them in a mirror. You want to take something to mark where you want the "holes" to be and how big you want them.

  3. Small 181944 170447673003516 100001148529061 330497 1247076 n 1298905569

Take them off again and stick something hard between the pant legs. I used an old hardback book. I used a rock and a razor blade. You can do this without the rock but the razor blade takes a lot longer (however it will come out cleaner and neater). The rock that I used is the same one I use for distressing shirts (thinning them out) and it's my favorite :) It's really rough all sides and it's big enough to hold perfectly in my hand.

  4. Small 189360 170447186336898 100001148529061 330494 2479305 n 1298905733

Now, take the rock or razor and scrape down and up on your pant over and over and over again. You'll notice that a lot of blue fluff is getting everywhere (that means you're doing it right!) and you'll also notice that the area is getting really light. Once you've noticed that you can scrape horizontally from side to side in the same area. If you do use the razor, i can't stress enough how CAREFUL you should be!

  5. You'll see that the "fringe" I guess is showing up, just keep going. If you're dong a balance of both rough and delicate you won't snag any of the fringe but you'll also be pushing away more of the jean.

  6. Small 189202 170447426336874 100001148529061 330496 5878924 n 1298905685

There's gonna be little pieces of denim stuck in the white part, but don't worry after you're finished with your spot that you worked on, just go over the area again really softly and it'll brush right off!

  7. If you want to make a spot bigger just make another spot next to it and sort of "rub" them into each other.

  8. Small 185607 170451719669778 100001148529061 330509 1104808 n 1298906757

Your wrists are gonna start hurting so I suggest taking breaks! I did one pant leg one night and I did the other pant leg the next night. Its a really good idea to some of the distressing around the pocket lines and even on some of the belt loops too! But once again, please be careful! I did this to my jeans the first time when I was 13 and I cut my index finger pretty badly :(

  9. Small 183541 170451966336420 100001148529061 330510 1871999 n 1298906939

You can now wash 'em and wear them around!
