Description

Looking back at the projects I've posted, I noticed that they were all pink, purple, and pretty. I don't want to pigeonhole myself, so I'm sharing my favorite shrine project!

Instructions

  1. Small 11734

Start by painting your shadow box. I taped newsprint over the glass since it was not removable. I did a coat of coral, once dry I added a coat of yellow. I wiped it down a bit with a dry cloth to let some of the coral show through. I then sprinkled it with a little dark green embossing powder to age it.

  2. Small 11737

Give your dolly a makeover. I started by taping back the bangs and painting Kelly doll's face white. Then I added detail to her face and body with acrylic paint and a little glitter. I also trimmed her hair and tied her ponytail with gold ribbon.

  3. Now to decorate your background. Cut a piece of felt to fit the back of your box. Now embellish it! I cut shapes (an arch, hearts, etc.) from clashing colors of felt and stitched them onto the background with contrasting thread. Then I added mini scrabble tiles and some sequins. Cut thin pieces of felt to cover the sides of the inside of your box and decorate those too. Mine are painted.

  4. To decorate the "floor" of your box, spread a thin layer of white glue over the surface. Leaving space for your doll's feet, sprinkle glitter or beads everywhere else.

  5. Small 11740

Now add your dolly by bonding her feet in place with super strong craft glue (like E6000 or hot glue). Close up your box and voila!
