Description

Despite his Harry Potter roots, Padfoot, ny dog, is quite the Southern gentleman. He, therefore, requires a bow tie for those extra special occasions.

Instructions

  1. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140334 p1010186

Cut your fabric. Cut two 4" x 6" pieces of fabric and interfacing. Cut one 3" x 2" piece of fabric.

  2. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140346 p1010187

Iron interfacing on to the wrong side (opposite pattern) of the 4" x 6" pieces of fabric

  3. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140403 p1010193

Take the two 4" x 6" pieces of fabric and place them with the right side (pattern side) facing each other and the interfacing side out. Pin in place.

  4. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140415 p1010194

Run a 1/2" seam along the outside edge of the fabric. Lift the foot, leave the needle in, and rotate the fabric 90 degree when you get within 1/2" of a corner.

  5. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140428 p1010195

Leave a large enough hole (about 1") for you to pull the fabric through.

  6. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140443 p1010197

Cut out a small square/rectangle at each corner. Do not cut into the seams.

  7. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140502 p1010198

Pull the fabric through the hole. Now, the right sides should be on the outside and the interfacing sides are on the inside.

  8. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140532 p1010200

Fold the fabric 1/2" in at the hole. Run a 1/4" seam around the entire edge. This will close your hole and help it lay flat.

  9. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140637 p1010192

Quarter fold your 3"x 2" piece of fabric.

  10. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140655 p1010204

Create a tube with the fold 3" x 2" piece of fabric. Fold this piece of fabric in half short ways (hamburger style). Sew the short edges of the folded fabric together with a 1/8" seam. Turn it right side out so that the seam is on the inside.

  11. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140730 p1010205

To create your bow tie: -Pull your larger piece of fabric through the tube. You may need tweezers to help you do this. -Get the tube to the middle of the fabric -Unscrunch the larger piece of fabric until it looks like a bow

  12. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140755 p1010207

ut a piece of velcro to the roughly four times the width of the collar. 1" collar = 4" of velcro

  13. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140834 p1010211

Attach velcro to your bow tie. Using hot glue, place a dot of glue on the back of your bow tie in the center. Stick the fabric to the hot glue with the soft side facing down (touching the glue).

  14. Small 105255 2f2014 11 02 140913 p1010213

Attach the bow tie to the dog collar. Wrap the velcro around the dog collar, and attach the bow tie.

  15. Put the collar with bow tie on your dog and make all the other dogs jealous.
