Despicable Me Minions Nail Art

MINIONS DESPICABLE ME NAIL ART

About

I was so inspired that I couldn't resist not to do these nails. It took about 4 hours just because I needed to let almost every nail polish coat dry. Honestly, I got a little help from my mom and brother to complete the lines and the eyes on the right hand because I suck at using my left hand (I'm right handed). Circles are the trickiest part, but practice first on a piece of paper so you can measure the amount of nail polish you need. Little by little, step by step your Minions will emerge from simple lines and dots.

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Nail Dotter Tool
  • Yellow, blue, gray, white, black Nail Polish
  • Nail Art Striping Brush
  • Nail Art Brush
  • Wooden Toothpicks
  • Nail Art Pens

Steps (8 steps, 240 minutes)

  1. 1

Apply base coat. Double coat you nails with yellow nail polish. Be sure they are dry for the next step.

  2. 2

Apply a bit of blue nail polish to your nails tips, French-manicure-like. Let it dry.

  3. 3

With a nail art striping tool or a nail polish pen in black, draw a line. Let it dry.

  4. 4

Now, you can draw the mouths using triangles and lines. Do not draw these close to the black line we drew previously since we need enough space to complete the big eyes.

  5. 5

Now, using a circle nail brush or your circle-drawing skills make circles with the grey polish on the black line. You can add two circles or just one. Let them dry.

  6. 6

With the white nail polish, make a circle quite smaller than the gray one. Make it as big as possible without covering the gray circle. This is important since it gives a nice effect to the eyes. If you cover the gray part, don't panic, continue the next step. Let it dry.

  7. 7

Using a dotting tool, the smallest you can find, or a toothpick, paint the mouth details such as teeth (white polish) and tongue (pink polish).

  8. 8

Now is time for the last details: the eyes. Feel free of dotting the black nail polish in any position you want, but you can always use an image from the web as a guide. Let it dry and finish with a generous top coat. Done!!
