Rough first project
After making a denim apron yesterday, I was posed with a problem. The jeans I had used had some awesome embroidery on the leg that I didn't want to waste. So I cut up another pair of jeans and the legs plus the waistband became this! It's really rough and thrown together but this is my first project of this kind so please don't judge me too harshly. This is also my first How-To, hopefully it's clear enough.

Step 1
First, cut off the jeans into shorts to get the legs. Cut the waistband off one pair of jeans, be sure to get one that fits you well.
Step 2
Figure out how long you want your skirt to be and cut the legs down to that length. Then cut the hems off both sides of the legs and the bottom.
Step 3
Cut all your panels to be the same size. Lay them out and figure out how many you'll need. My skirt was three and three.
Step 4
Sew the front and back panels together and hem the bottom so it looks nice.
Step 5
Now put the front and back right side together and sew them into a big loop. This is your waistband-less skirt.
Step 6
My waistband had elastic in it, so I unhooked it and pulled it into the skirt. That way it wouldn't be all scrunchy while I was sewing. To make the elastic retrievable, I attached a safety pin to it and tied some yarn to the pin so I could pull it back out.
Step 7
Decided whether you want your belt loops or not. I didn't, so I just took them off. If you want them, re-sew them to fit just the waistband.
Step 8
Lay out the waistband against the skirt. I retained my button, so I didn't sew the waistband down in the front. Hem the top of the skirt since it will show.
Step 9
Sew the waistband to the back of the skirt and then do the front parts seperately. Voila! A skirt made from legs!
