I wanted to transform some old jeans into a new skirt without that tell-tale triangle that screams "I used to be jeans!"

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Jeans
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Safety Pin
  • Pins
  • Seam Ripper

Steps (5 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

Try on your jeans and use a safety pin to mark the length you want your skirt to be. Cut off legs an inch or two below that to allow for future fraying.

  2. 2

Cut on both sides of inseam, removing seam altogether.

  3. 3

Use seam ripper to open up front seam to just below zipper and back seam to about the same height.

  4. 4

Turn jeans inside-out and pin new front and back seams straight down. Sew and trim off excess fabric.

  5. 5

Use tan thread to top-stitch along new seams, to mimic the look of the original seams.
