Just the right amount of grunge
I wanted to transform some old jeans into a new skirt without that tell-tale triangle that screams "I used to be jeans!"

    Step 1

    Try on your jeans and use a safety pin to mark the length you want your skirt to be. Cut off legs an inch or two below that to allow for future fraying.

    Cut on both sides of inseam, removing seam altogether.

    Use seam ripper to open up front seam to just below zipper and back seam to about the same height.

    Turn jeans inside-out and pin new front and back seams straight down. Sew and trim off excess fabric.

    Use tan thread to top-stitch along new seams, to mimic the look of the original seams.
