Instructions

  1. To start, you need the measurement of the width of your dishcloth. Then crochet a chair that will fit the measurements. For this pattern, you would need to chain groups of 9 (repeats of 9) plus 1. i.e. I used: 9 repeated 15 times = 135 chain, plus 1 chain, = 136 chain. Now make one extra chain, skip this chain, (the first one against your hook), and from the second chain, make 1 SC into each chain. (136 SC) Work 3 chain, this will be a DC. Now *make 2 chain, skip 2 SC on the row below, and work 1 DC onto next SC.* Repeat from * to * until the end. You should now have 45 squares in this row. Work 3 chain, this will be a DC. Now *make 2 chain, skip space on the row below, and work 1 DC onto next DC.* Repeat from * to * until the end. Work your last DC into the 3 chain you made at the beginning of the row. You should now again have 45 squares in this row. (You can repeat this row if you want a longer edge.) Chain 1, *crochet 1 SC into DC, crochet 2 SC into space.* Repeat from * to * until the end. Finish with one SC onto last DC. (136 SC) Finish off: Scallops: Crochet one stitch into each of the SC of the previous row. Start with one chain, repeat the following pattern: 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 HDC. Finish with one 1 SC into last SC of previous row. Cut yarn, pull yarn though. You may leave a long enough piece of yarn here that you can now use to sew your crochet edging/trim to your dishcloth. Using pins, lay your dishcloth flat and pin the crochet trim to the dishcloth, making sure it’s evenly spread across the width of your dishcloth. Stitch the crochet to the dishcloth using a simple stitch through the loops of your crochet. Sew away the ends.
