  • How to make a braided bracelet. Decenario's Bracelet - Step 1
    Step 1

First take your embroidery thread and fold it in half, then knot both of the ends, as shown here.

    Step 2

Next take your tube, and place it quite close to the knot that has the strands coming from it, not the loop. Wrap the thread around the tube, diagonally and then wrap round again, going diagonally the other way, forming a cross.

    Step 3

Wrap the thread around the tube 5 more times, followig the second diagonal thread, towards the left. Then, take the long strand of thread, and insert it down the tube, from left to right. We kept the long end, with the loop so that it's easier to thread through the tube.

    Step 4

Pull the loops off of the tube towards the left, and slide the tube off the strand. Make sure you hold onto the loops as they come off and DON'T LET THEM GO......YET

Now you gently need to tease the two strands tighter, all the while keeping the large knot it will make close to the end knot. The best way to do this is pull the two ends away from each other, a small amount, then twist them in opposite directions to tighten the large knot.

Now move away from the end knot, (about 15cm) and make another knot.

    Step 7

Add 8 more knots, and in total there will be 10 knots. The end one, and the 9 close together. I struggle to get them all equal and I think it gives it character with it being a bit hotch potch.

    Step 8

Now we are going to fasten the bracelet with a slip knot. First take your short end, and bend it over making a loop. Leave some of the strand free.

    Step 9

Place the end of your bumps (the other end of the bracelet) next to loop. Use the strand we left (the small one) to wrap around the loop, and the long strand.

    Step 10

The strand that we wrapped around the bulk now needs to be put through the loop that still remains.

    Step 11

Once you've pulled it tight and neatened it off it will look like this. Now we need to make the cross.

  • How to make a braided bracelet. Decenario's Bracelet - Step 12
    Step 12

Measure 14cm, from the slipknot and cut. With the piece that has been cut off make an s shape on the strand. Going from bottom to top the "s thread" sits over, under and over the straight strand.

  • How to make a braided bracelet. Decenario's Bracelet - Step 13
    Step 13

Move the "s shape" closer to the straight thread and position the left thread so it is out of the way... north west is the best place like in the picture.

    Step 14

With the right hand thread, loop it back underneath the straight thread.

  • Step 15

Put the end of the thread back through the loop we just created.

  • How to make a braided bracelet. Decenario's Bracelet - Step 16
    Step 16

Hold both ends of the straight thread with one hand (spread eagle those fingers)and pull the left thread down with the other. You might have to practise that a bit. I stuggled.

    Step 17

You'll now have a cross shape in the thread. Now we need to add those large knots to the remaining three strands. On this one you can see I've added one to the right strand. Do this for all the strands.

    Step 18

Once you have done all of them cut off the remaining strands and voila! All done, Your own decenario bracelet!!
