I saw these cute tops selling for £15+ and thought, why spend that much when I could make my own for less than a £10!

Instructions

  1. Small dscf4988

Pick out your shirt, make sure it's a polo shirt. I chose a shirt that was a size too big, but you don't have to.

  2. Small dscf4992

Cut off the sleeves, I cut next to the seam.

  3. Small dscf4996

Measure how long you would like crop top (shoulder to hem) I chose 16" and don't forget to add on the width of your elastic along the bottom and seam allowance!

  4. Small dscf4999

Cut the bottom off and pin the hem up

  5. Small dscf5003

On the sleeves, fold over the raw edge on the wrong side, pin and sew

  6. Small dscf5001

Leave enough space to create a 'tube' for your elastic to fit in.

  7. Small dscf5002

Sew the hem all away around leaving a small gap (about 2 inches) this is where you will pull your elastic through.

  8. Small dscf5004

Cut the elastic about half an inch smaller than your waist. You don't want it too tight around your waist. When you have done this, put a safety pin through the end of the elastic

  9. Small dscf5005

Pull the safety pin and elastic through the tube until it comes out the other end.

  10. Small dscf5006

Pull the elastic taut, but not too taut! You want it taut enough to not fall down, but not so taut it leaves a mark! Tie the elastic in a double knot and sew the hem over the knot!

Then you're finished!! Enjoy your cute top :)
