I stumbled upon a book at Borders that was all about how to make cute little feltie animals. I skimmed through the pages a bit, and realized making my own would be so simple that I wouldn't need a book! Its easy and the only skills you need to have is being able to sew by hand and to be able to sew on buttons. I didn't use a pattern of any kind. I just cut out the shapes and sewed them together. You can really make any animal or shape that you want. You can sew all sorts of things on them..beads, buttons, anything! Have fun with it.

You can really make any animal or shape that you want. You can sew all sorts of things on them..beads, buttons, anything! Have fun with it.

Instructions

  1. First, you will need to start cutting out shapes for your animal. Since you will be stuffing it, your gonna need to cut out two of the body shape (The blue part on mine). One for the front and one for the back. You will need to cut out two for each wing. So four all together. It helps if you cut two sheets at a time so you get two of the exact same shape. For the body parts on the front, (Stomach, heart, eyes, beak) You will only need to cut out one shape.

  2. Once you have all your shapes cut out, Arrange them how you want and make sure they look good BEFORE you start sewing.

  3. Now you can sew all the body parts on the front to ONE of the body shapes. this will be easier to sew instead of waiting til you have made the body and stuffed it.

  4. Once you have all of the front parts sewn on, You can Start Sewing the arms. Be sure and leave space to fill the arms with filling before you completely sew them up. Fill the arms up with filling and then sew them up.

  5. Start sewing the body together, and when you get to where you want the arms, put the arms inside the two sheets of the body so that you can sew it all at once. The arms should only be inside the body about a half an inch. Just enough to attach it. Do both the arms, and then leave a spot open to fill the whole body with Poly Fill.

  6. Fill the whole body with the Poly fill and sew the rest of it up. And you have your own owl feltie! How cute!
