Cricut sent us a Cricut Mini cutting machine to test out and each week, we'll be bringing you a new project to make. This week, we're using the Cricut to cut out felt and combining with the paper snowflake technique to make placemats.

You Will Need (3 things)
- Felt
- Scissors
- Cricut
Steps (11 steps, 20 minutes)
-
1
Open up the placemats template in your Cricut-Craft Room. We'll start by making the largest placemat first, so select that layer.
-
2
Plug in your Cricut to your computer. Remove the protective sheet from your cutting mat and stick down a rectangle a felt firmly to the mat. Set the blade depth to 5 and the pressure to 6 before clicking cut.
-
3
Press Cut and watch your placemat take shape.
-
4
Remove the excess felt, using a pair of scissors to neaten up any edges if needed and punch out the pre-cut holes around the edges.
-
5
Repeat with your second colour of felt using the medium placemat template.
-
6
Repeat with your third colour of felt using the smallest placemat template.
-
7
You should now have three placemats varying in size.
-
8
Fold one of the placemats in half and then in half again, like you would when making a paper snowflake and cut shapes out along the edges. Try triangles, squares and ovals.
-
9
Unfold, to see how your cuts look and then fold in half again, so that you have a new edge to cut.
-
10
Keep folding and cutting until you're satisfied with your design.
-
11
Repeat with your other placemats and you're all done!
