Righto, it's time time whip out your spankin' Sunbeam Mix Master and bake some cupcakes. You can use a mix but I love sieving things so I did it by scratch.

Recipe for the best cupcakes ever:

    125 g butter
    1 tsp vanilla
    3/4 cup caster sugar
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 cups plain flour
    1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 cup milk

While your delicious cupcakes are cooling, it's time to grab your cardboard, scissors and some tape. Or you could take the easy route and use a polystyrene cone but nowhere near me sold them :(
I definitely recommend the polystyrene cone but if you don't have one, roll your cardboard into a cone shape and then tape it together. Cut the bottom of the cone (or leave it) until it's as big as you want it.

I also painted mine green so that it felt more christmassy underneath. And I like painting.

Time for the hard, painful part. If you used polystyrene, this will be easy but it'll sound pretty blah. Cut off the first 5 centimetres or so of a long skewer or use a tooth pick and stab the tree. Grab a cupcake and put it on the end to measure out where the next few skewers should go. Continue attacking the tree with it's own spawn until it looks like the christmas tree of death.

Finally, you get to do the best part - icing the cupcakes.
I chose to do a fancy grassy looking thing (because trees are covered in grass) but it'd look fine if you just knifed it on. I left about 6 or 7 cupcakes out and put on red icing. I then used white icing to do fancy (haha) little designs so they looked like baubles. I then took another one and covered it in yellow icing so it looked like a star. Cover it in love. Love in the form of food glitter or those little silver balls that are no fun to chew but were on sale so you just HAD to buy them. I lacked all those things so my star was just yellow.

Now we get to set up the tree. If you're taking it somewhere, set it up there - trust me, it's easier.

Take your tree of death and your awesome cupcakes. Grab a cupcake and stick on the end of the skewer. It will take some adjusting but the bottom layer is the hardest. Every so often you should place bauble because every tree needs some decorations. When you've decorated your tree and it no longer looks deadly, it's time to put on the star. Unfortunately, I was not there for the set up of my baby (it was for my mums work-do and there was no way anyone was making me go) so I trusted in my mum to find a solution. She said that she ended up cutting out the bottom of the star (who needs a bum anyway) and sticking it on top. I also handed my beloved camera to my technologically-challenged mother and trusted in her to take photos.

Look at yourself. Look at your kitchen. It may have taken a lot of flour on your pants and a lot of complaining but you did it! You turned a piece of cardboard and some yumminess into christmas deliciousness. Pat yourself on the back, you BAMF.

Then tidy up the kitchen :D
