this is my most exhausting and effortful present i've ever made
This was actually my very first cross stitching project. I hand stitched based on a picture of me and my bf for our anniversary. It almost killed me during the making as it was very time consuming and difficult to not to mess up. A single misplacement of a colour will ruin the face/image. I first used a stitching program to alter my photo into a pixelated form and it would automatically assign what colour thread I should use. Next I had to pick out the right colour threads and stitch them into the correct spots by counting the squares from the photo and the canvas @_@ At the end, i sewed the pieces together and filled it with stuffing. It was a very long process and I don't think I will ever do it again. haha.

I just thought that the bottom part was cross stitched and you had used an iron-on for the photo until I read the full post.

You did a great job - it looks amazingly real!
