Crochet cookies give you an excuse to play with your food!
This tutorial will show you how to crochet a basic cookie. I'll also show you how to embellish that basic cookie shape to make chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies drizzled with icing or covered in sprinkles.

Finished size: 3″ in diameter and about 1″ tall

* If you are making this for a child, please consider embroidering the eyes and sprinkles.

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Stack top and bottom together with RS facing out. Using the long tail from the top, sew together along the edges. When you’re a little more than halfway around, stuff very lightly before sewing the rest together.

Embroider a design, as if with icing.

Thread a yarn needle with dark brown worsted-weight yarn. Attach this yarn to the outer edge on the back. Pass yarn across the top to the opposite side and secure through a stitch on the underside. Repeat back and forth until you get to the bottom. FO and weave in ends.

Or embroider some chips to make a chocolate chip cookie.

Thread a yarn needle with dark brown worsted-weight yarn. Attach this yarn to the outer edge on the back. Push the needle up through the top of the cookie and come back down a few stitches away. Go through those same stitches again to make the chip more pronounced. Repeat all over the top of the cookie at random. FO and weave in ends.

To proudly display your cookies, you might arrange them on a plate for Santa or thread a ribbon through a stitch on the edge and hang them on your Christmas tree.
